Off To Korea Again In The Morning (Updated with some photos)

Heading back to Korea again in the morning. Will be away for 2 weeks this time. I will have my laptop with me so will be out here as often as I can.
Looking forward to getting back for Canada's Victoria day long weekend. We have a wedding to attend and some serious boating to do !!!

I am off to Incheon, Daegu, Cheongu, Ulsan, Seoul, Incheon, Home. In that order !!!
First time I am driving over there. Always had an interpreter / driver before.
A little nervous about it but I am going with a Korean and have booked an English GPS with the rental car.

Hyundai are building stamping tooling in Korea to run in our facility in Gadsden Alabama. I generally go over there a couple of times in the build. 1 visit at around 60% build and the next time to perform a buy off (or not) as the case may be. One of the toolshops were having a terrible time making the components and actually gave up trying. That was when I went over to review the issues and offer assistance and direction to modify what they had to make quality dimensionally correct components from the tooling. I was staying till I had success, came back just over a week ago to attend to business here and with Hyundai in Alabama while they finalised all the permanent corrections to the tooling in Korea. I have several sets of tooling to review on this visit and by the time I get back to this particular toolshop they should be complete, ready for a buy off run and hopefully ready to ship to our stamping facility in Alabama.
I am a mechanical Engineer specialising in stamping and welded assembly tooling.
Gets me around a bit !!!

While it sounds like you have an interesting and rewarding career (far more so than mine), I definitely don't envy you the travel. I do like being able to literally drop whatever I'm doing and run out of here at 4PM every day However it would be neat to see some other parts of the world on the company's nickel.

Well it was a long trip here and it is currently 7:00 a.m. Sunday here. I am in Cheongju till Wednesday and then move to Daegu. Jet lag has once again kicked in and it sure does not feel like morning. I was the last on the plane from LA yesterday as my connection from Detroit was an hour late. Ran from the domestic terminal in LA to the International terminal. escorted by Korean air people from the international desk through security and to the aircraft door. As soon as I boarded the door was closed and off we went !!!!
Laptop running on battery (low) right now as my power pack has broken. I will have to try to overcome the language barrier today and get a new one. If I am not out later I was not successful !!!
I will post some photos if I have power and when I have taken them.

Well I got the power thing sorted out. Nice folks at the hotel found one for me for free !!!!
Just taken a few photos from my hotel room window. Overlooking Cheongju. No houses here all apartment buildings. I call them vertical villages !!
Linked them up to photobucket as my laptop is having trouble re-sizing today for some reason. i am heading out shortly for a wander round the place and to find somewhere to buy beer and snacks. Will post more photos later if I get anything interesting.

I have a fair bit in the fridge in my room right now. Will be bringing some home with me.
