Volvo Penta 4.3 GL-C fuel pump issue

Hi to all - my first post.
Just purchased an 2nd hand FRP boat locally. The boat had been sitting idle for 7 years after having just had a brand new motor fitted (43.5 hours on the tacho).
Stale fuel etc as would be expected so the previous owner stated he used the fuel pump to pump the tank dry. Presumably he disconnected the fuel line at the carby and jumped the fuel pump circuit. I believe behind the instrument panel (the ign switch was gone and wiring there disconnected). Anyway, motor fires and runs beautifully if I prime with fuel down the carb but the pump won't run. There's no power to the fuel pump or the fuel pump fuse.
What energises the fuel pump when the ign is switched on?
I note the audible alarm is also disconnected behind the panel and there are sundry other wires floating around back there. Is there another wire I have to connect to the ignition circuit?
Can anyone point me to a wiring diagram? Help!
Thanks, Jim

Re: Volvo Penta 4.3 GL-C fuel pump issue

What energises the fuel pump when the ign is switched on?

Nothing.

The pump is not energized by turning on the switch, When you turn the key to the start position the fuel pump relay is energised from the start relay through a diode. When the engine starts and you let off the start position to run, power to the fuel pump is energized through another relay from the alternator.
If you Click Here you can download the manuals and wiring diagrams. You need manuals 3-6-7 for your engine.
