Ok I've lost reverse. When I move the throttle back it just clicks real fast but never engages.
If I go back to the engine, I found a cable that has a little rubber thing that is held in the linkage with a cotter pin.
If I pull that rubber thing out, it can be adjusted by spinning it around on the cable. By adjusting it this way I can get my reverse back, BUT once I adjust it to get reverse engaged, I don't have forward any more.
There is no happy medium, its one or the other.
Also sometimes when I go forward, the boat will engage and start moving, and after about 10 seconds traveling, I will hear a big thud, and the boat "kicks". To me it seems like its engaging enough to turn the prop, but not fully and then after a few seconds of forward, it kicks itself in.
These problems all seem to be related because they all started to happen at the same time.
Suggestions?
Thanks guys!
