Hey Guys, Ive got a 1997 135 merc shifting was really tight so much that i sheard the control pin. I replaced throttle assembly and cables. Shifting is still tight. Removed shift cable and cannot do it manualy.Removed lower unit to check the dog clutch and it shifts fine manually from for to rev. When you put it into gear manually there is about an inch of back and forth play on the prop i didnt know if this was a problem seeing as how the shaft is cont spinning. With the lower unit removed i hooked the shift cable back up and the connector rod is still nearly frozen. Im pretty new to all this so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something is binding. Are the bolts on the shift block over-tightened? If the cables and controls are new and your lower unit shifts fine manually, its somewhere between the two. Not much there besides your shift-block, linkage, and shift-shaft.
