That boat's only rated for 45 hp. Putting an 85 on it is a recipe for disaster, weight-wise, speed-wise, and force-wise. People hung 40 hp OMC Big Twins on the back of that boat and went skiing. About 160 lb. of outboard.

mine is 16 feet stern to bow i was told it was a ski champ maybe not its my first big boat and only 40 but with all the online research i have done and no hull id# i gess i was wrong but thanks for all the input i was thinking about the 85 just because i can buy it all running for 100.00 i think im going to stay 40hp or under i got a nice running 1959 johnson 18 but i think its to small this is what it is right now rough but i can see beond that

If it's 16', it's not a Ski Champ. Look at the brochures at the site I linked to. It may be a different boat, with a different HP rating. I was just going by what you said.
