I have finally got my motor installed and ready to go. I have to install an electric fuel pump because my block was a newer block and not cut out for mechanical pump. I have read all rules about electric pump install but have one question.

There is a clear tube that runs from the top of carb to mechanical pump that after electric pump is on i do not know what to do with. I am assuming this line is some sort of vapor line. any thoughts

4.3 v6 mercruiser with 2bbl carb.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump

Remove it, you don't need it anymore. It was there to keep fuel from dumping into the bilge if the diaphrams of the mechanical pump failed.

It's a safety line which if your mechanical pump diaphram fails it floods the carb and shuts your engine down. As for what to do with it with an elec pump i'd just block it but someone else might know for sure.

It most certianly does NOT shut the engine down. It just uses engine vacuum to draw the leaking fuel into the carb. Hell, a minor leak only raised the engines rpm's. A good leak only made the engine idle poorly and run a little rich.
