Boarding your boat without permission is like getting in your car or house without permission god help the poor soul who dares this on my craft, home or vehicle it is clearly trespassing period!. Never had this happen and hope it never does I'm very protective of my property as everyone should be.

No but if anyone did something like that I'd have the cops on the phone in a second.

Sounds like a good way to get shot then arrested!!! (I don't own a gun) It would create a very hurtful situation for the person doing that to my boat. Same thing if they entered my house or car.
i would rather get shot than have sarge after me.

he went the rounds with a pair of coyots this spring and came out alive. and not hurt very much.

I got my cabin padlocked and would feel bad for someone who boarded my boat with me there.

Never happened on the boat, but I have had the same scenario where parents allow their kids to do whatever they want.

We were snowmobiling, came out of the bar to ride back to the cabin, and little Johnny was sitting on my sled, steering it left & right while Mom & Dad (not snowmobilers) looked on in approval. Little kid was even engaging the throttle (obviously sled was off but it DID flood, and I couldn't get it going right away)

Very annoying. Is there a sign on my snowmobile that says KODAK MOMENT?

Hmmm, when I caught those kids snoopin around on my boat the parents were around as well.... also unconcerned. Is rude, inconsiderate parenting just a Fox Valley thing, lol.

And down-right STUPID!

For years I volunteered at an agricultural museum operating steam tractors, 15 ton hot behemoths running on live steam (350F). I have seen families with a bunch of kids coming down the lane where the kids run ahead, jump up on the steam engine, and start jerking levers around willy-nilly while the parents watch seemingly unconcerned! Those kids could kill or scald themselves (or someone else) - they get screamed at rather rudely by the engine operators (and rightly so!)

I honestly don't know what is wrong with the parents that the kids have not been taught even enough limits for their own survival!

Just another example of how Darwin was WRONG!

yes, you gotta love it when the parents blame you for their kids getting hurt on your stuff.

Has anyone else ever caught strangers aboard their unattended (docked or beached) boat?

Face is Knot, you just have "I like trespassers" written on your forehead. You should consider getting that removed.

I almost had a young lady board my boat without permission Saturday but she was going about 35mph on a jet ski. I don't think she would have boarded it though, more like flew over it. They shouldn't let blonde bimbos drive jet skis.

I was sitting on the edge of the dock a few years back when a ditzy friend drove up slowly on a jet ski. When she got about 2 feet away, she had a brain f@rt and gunned it, giving her best attempt at boarding me without authorization. Luckily, I was able to swing my leg out of the way just in time to avoid a direct hit that would have pinned my leg between the jet ski and the dock. I got a good bruise, but I still feel like I got really lucky.

LOL, we call that combo an unguided missile :D

Note to LadyFish: there is not one reference here to a ditzy Blond, so just step away from the keyboard

Re: Strangers boarding without permission

Ive never had this happen to my boat but I did come out of a buddys appartment one day to find one of the neighbors kids sitting on my motorcycle. When she saw me she jumped off and started to walk away and then almost like she wanted to pretend she wasnt doing anything wrong she walked back and began pounding on the seat with both hands. Not knowing what else to do I told her that if she wanted to go for a ride we would have to get her parents permision and she quickley led me to her mother. I tried to be as polite as possible and informed her mother that if she didnt have the extra cash to pay for any damages to my bike that she should keep her child off of it. Im not sure what ever happened but as I was walking away I was reminded of what it used to feel like when I messed up as a child and got a good whoopin.

Re: Strangers boarding without permission

I only board somones boat if there is a problem, like if they left a hatch wide open and its going to rain soon, or if a line came off. Last summer I manually switched on the bilge pump several times on a boat left uncovered and never attended to. It would sit low in the water, thats how I knew the bilge was full. After doing it so many times the battery went dead. At that point I did not feel comfortable with taking covers off and adding a jumper pack, I just told the marina attendent. Later the boat was lifted out, so I guess I will never know what happened to the owner.

I figure it this way, ask yourself if you would care if someone did it to you. If yes, than do not board. If you see signs of foul play, report it to the marina, they will usually monitor it.
