Re: Oil pressure sender switch

The oil pressure sender is not a switch pre se, but it is located just behind the dist in the rear of the block. If you mean the one for the electric fuel pump, it`s located just above the oil filter and is a switch with 2 wires

Actually what I'm looking for is the location of the switch for the warning buzzer, I know the one behind the distributor and that is a sender and I just realized that after looking at the wiring diagram. I have a sensor from my unwinterized engine thats sitting on my bench and from what I can tell its a oil pressure switch but I dont have an electric fuel pump.

It shows the location in the manual (page 4E-6 top left picture in manual 15) but it's very hard to tell from the scanned page in the Adults section.

You replaced the engine? the engine is on the bench? If you have a carb with a mech fuel pump ,you do not need the oil pressure switch for it.

The no oil pressure alarm switch only uses 1 wire and shorts to ground with no oil pressure to trip the alarm.

LOL.... I am in the process of putting the engine back together with a block that I picked up from a friend and I'm putting all the bolt ons back on from the mercruiser. I didnt go from an electric fuel pump to a mechanical and the old motor had the switch on it, just trying to make sure that I put all the parts back on and the wiring diagram shows that there is both a sender and a switch for my year engine that did not have an electric fuel pump.

Re: Oil pressure sender switch

look for a threaded hole or a plug about 3 inches above and 4 inches toward the front of the motor from the oil filter.

You set me in the right direction, there is a plug directly above the oil filter and that is probably where it goes considering there are no other holes on that side of the motor that could be used for oil. As always you are a huge help.
