It has been awhile back, but I am just curious as to what the weight was for Evinrude's new 15 HP E-TEC H.O. (Admittedly,I have been a bit skeptical of the E-TEC motors as a whole,...though I am NOT slamming them in any way,...I had been questioning whether or not you can really run them full throttle right out of the box without a break-in,run'em five hours without oil,and run 'em three years without maintenance. I just recently purchased a
2010 Lund A-14 utility-v bottom boat, but went with Mercury four stroke 15 HP motor. Someone said the 15 HP E-TEC would have have been too heavy for the A-14 Lund, but I want to be sure I heard right. I say all this because
I was hoping to maybe put my skepticism to rest and find out for myself.
But until then,my skepticism towards E-TECs remain,...and will keep the Mercury 15 horse four stroke. It does,...afterall,...have a Yamaha powerhead.)

It is heavy.

It has the same block as the 25HP-30HP. It also has power trim/tilt.

177 lbs.

Yep,...just as I thought,...it's too heavy a motor for Lund's A-14. My Lund is only designed for a max motor weight of 140 lbs. Damn,...I was hoping to get to try an E-TEC and put my skepticisms to rest. I guess I'll stick with my four stroke Mercury. Hey,...Mercury and Evinrude are both good motors nowdays!
Now if I had Lund's WC-16,the E-TEC 15 H.O would have probably worked on that boat. Oh well,...my A-14 suits me just fine and I'm happy with it and the 15 HP Mercury four stroke. Time to go fishing!
