Sup guys...

Its been ages since I've last touched my boat or even dreampt about fiberglass and different layup techniques :D hopefully I can get some work accomplished this summer. Ill post progress when possible but here is what I have so far... Im sure there'll be tons of questions as I go along.

These are all I have so far... will take some more soon. (Also the two neighboring boats - didnt feel fair to not include them)

My apologies for the pictures being a bit "dirty" ...hasn't been cleaned in quite some time.

Wow replicating those curved stringers will be an interesting venture.

I would say that boat needs some attention, but it doesnt look liek the hull is in bad shape.

First thing i would do if i were you is resize your pics to 640x480 and re post them. Noone tends to frequent any threads with massive images. Youll get more information and replies if your thread meets the forum standard image size. I learned this myself lol.

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up... thought the pic hosting service would have automatically readjusted them but ah well...

Your right; the curve in the stringers, especially the outer ones, is causing me to scratch my head but hopefully before the weekend is out I can conjure something up.

Re: That itchy feeling... (again)

Good day

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get both sets of stringers to follow the curvature of the hull itself. Im about to rip out the old casing/skin from the previous stringers.

Also would one two layers of 1808 taped in with 1708 suffice in terms of strength? (epoxy)

Lastly how does the transom look, the previous one flexed like mad... the new one has three layers of 1708 with 3 sheets of 3/4" (marine grade) all glued up (70% sure of wood size)... and the four knee braces shown which will be tied into the stringers. I've filleted all around and brought tabbed everything at least ~30" unto the bottom and sides of the hull. Just wanna be sure it can hold the weight of a 200 and possibly a 300 in the future :D

Also Im a bit incredulous as to the bedding of a stringer in pl900,5200 or some other "mushy" material, would that not take away from the rigidity and overall strength of the boat? I've read lots about the hard spot issue but just trying to look at it from all angles.

Check out Ooops thread "hull extension" on about page 10 to 13 somewhere there he shows how to do a stringer curve that is excellent. It's basically suspending the stringer above the hull just a bit and using a stick and a pencil drawing a parallel line above the hull onto the stringer. it works.
