Hi guys.I have a 1959 10hp evinrude.it ran like crap when i bought it.So i cleaned the carb and rebuilt the carb and changed the plugs.now it starts good and idles great but when i put it in forward(which alot of the time it dosen't want to go in to)the motor dosen't actually go fast.it goes slow and dosen't really rev out.i checked the compression and it is 75psi in both cylinders.i'm not sure if that is good or not but thats what i have.i tried adjusting the high speed jet and nothing changed.can anyone help me with this problem.also the motor dosen't want to go into forward alot of the time but goes into reverse everytime.does anyone know how to fix that problem as well.thanks guys.

Re: my evinrude has no speed

shift linkage not connected properly, shift rod height not correct. 75 psi on a rope start is very good. have you check spark with a spark tester? have you check throttlelinkage and timing plate for proper sync.
