I think.

New fiberglass.

Sanded
Dewaxed/cleaned with 202....
Painted 3 coats of barrier coat.
That was on Sunday.

It is now WED and I haven't put the antifouling on. It has been raining the past two days.....

I just was thinking about how strange it was that I had to sand the bottom but not the barrier coat......and now that I've googled it... people seem to say that if you don't paint the antifouling paint over the barrier coat while it's still "tacky" you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN....

I'm sure it says this on the antifouling paint.......but I'm a male and I don't read directions till I have to.

FARK!! :(

well a boat painter I called just told me as long as I got the primer (barrier coat) on, that I can just put the antifouling on at any time..

That is true, but for proper adhesion you need to lightly sand the fully cured barrier coat. Check with the barrier coat manufacturer if you have any doubt.

yea that's what I was afraid of, it took me forever to sand the whole bottom to "scuff" it up....

Yup that sounds like painting, it is a real time bandit.

Just painted a car and I spent 14 hours just sanding and that was after all the body work was done, when I finally hit paint I found out there was a contaminant on my wet sand bucket and it reacted al over the place.

You just have to take a deep breath and do it, no sense getting this far and not doing it right.

You might check with the manufacturer of the barrier coat. That stuff is made to be painted over, like standard primer. I would be surprized if you need to sand it.
