2000 150 johnson 6cyl 2 stroke. compression 90psi all cyls. good spark. rebuilt carbs, new filter, new vro pump. seperated from boat on 6 gal tank. running on hose spits quite a bit for a little while then bulb gets soft and dies like its not getting fuel. in water cranks runs at idle, put in gear and runs ok 1500rpm then throttle up and boggs/spits cant get on plane. reeds seem fine bc im not getting any fuel spitting out of carbs while on hose. floats are set right, carbs are cleean, mixture screws are set at 2 turns out, have played with them starting at 1 1/2 out and nothing seems to help. seems like its not getting fuel but i dont understand why....any ideas?

Try priming the bulb when it starts to bog if this helps most like in need of a fuel pump rebuild kit

there is one thing i was wondering about, when i rebuilt the 6 carbs there was ONE piece i did not use. it was a plastic whiteish/clearish washer that looked like it was suppose to go under the needle seat. BUT there was not any under the old seats that i pulled out. so i figured it was something that wasnt supposed to be used....think i should of used it?

The carb kit for my 115 Johnson came with that plastic washer but there wasn't one used previously. With the washer on I would have needed to adjust the float way too much. Without it the float sat close to where it should so I didn't use it. The kit typically can be used on my engines and they include extra parts that some need and some don't.

I currently have a similar issue with my outboard and will follow your post. If you do find out what caused your problem, please remember to post the solution. Good luck!

will do. looked in service man. and saw i needed to back mixture screws out 5 turns. runs great on hose now. still "boggs" in water at around 1500rpm. it almost feels like its going into some kind of safe mode or something. i dont know what else to do with this thing...any ideas? (even if they sound simple, bc i might of missed something) ALSO! i noticed that there are NO orifice plugs (which controls high speed mixture) in the spot where they go, and i see its threaded where its suppose to be but i dont know if maybe this model doesnt have any..? or if its suppose to then they arent there, maybe thats my problem..?

Simple troubleshooting is a matter of elimination.
But you are glossing over the most likely problems.

You installed a VRO pump but haven't verified it.
When it starts to bog in the water pump the bulb and hit the choke.
If it picks up its the pump.

You say it has good spark, how good ?
7/16th inch gap on the spark tester? (can't use a sparkplug to test spark)
Good blue spark? yellow is not good.

Which service book do you have?

problem solved. someone had been thru these carbs before. left out my high speed jet in the bottom of the bowl. engine must of been flooding at 1500rpm...i ordered the jets ill put them in this week.
