RRITT.....anybody.....need some help

i think this unit is model 172655. it's been taken apart, cleaned and put back together. anybody know how to bleed these things? i don't have a manual for this or any type of schematic besides a parts list. not sure what all the screws are for. port side seemed to work well while starboard seemed to have some trouble. i figure that, ideally, it should be mounted on the boat but we're just trying to test it out.

little brown(rusted) screw on top (2cnd pic ) should bleed it

ok. both cylinders appear to be working and hold pressure. will probably still change the rings on port cylinder as well as the motor/pump housing.
anybody have pictures of this thing attached?
one other question...port cylinder doesn't travel as much as starboard. anybody know why?

you might not have enough fluid in there..
Usually when it is under a load both will travel the same distance.
Is this for an early eighties fifty horse?

The port cylinder is the trim cylinder while the starboard cylinder is the tilt cylinder. Click the thumbnails to see the hydraulic cycles involved.

my sending unit is toast. i'm gonna plug it.........what was it for and any consequence of not having it? looking at the parts list it looks like it was for a guage.

Click the thumbnail, twice.

Yours has a Calco pump rather than the Prestolite shown in the diagram.

The trim gauge sending unit only reads the 15 degrees of the trim cycle, so if you don't need it, just plug it.

that's good because it's broke. my plan is to just plug the hole. thanks for all the information. i'm gonna search for a boat with one of these attached just to check the hook up and such.
