I just bought a used 22 ft Sisu with a 150 Mariner Magnum outboard but it didn't come with a gas tank. What size tank should I get? The previous owner used 2 portable 12 gal tanks. My boating will be day trips in the rivers around the Hampton Roads Va. area but I would eventually get into overnighters and weekends out. Thanks.

Re: Mariner 150 Gas tank size?

With an 18' bass boat, on overnighters in Voyagers, I put 27 gallons in the boat and pack in an extra 20 gallons in cans. That's good for a couple of days of putzing around.

Yer engine will burn about 15 gallons/hour at WOT. Just for argument, lets say your WOT speed is 45 mph. That's 3 MPG. On most boats you'll get a bit better at a little less than full throttle, but I doubt it with yours because of it's size. Go from there to figure it out.

hope it helps

I have a 75hp with a 20 gallon and it is a bit small, I often will bring an additional 10 gallons on long weekends.

I have a 20 and can get 17 in it if I fill it while the boats on the trailer. If I'm fishing and blasting from hole to hole I burn about 1/2 tank a day. If I'm joy riding I can burn a lot more, depends on the size of the lake and water conditions.

If the water is rough and I'm working the engine hard it can seem pretty small when the distance from the shore line is great. I've been considering upping my volume with a second Moeller tank.
