:confused:Our Fuel Gauge on the dash is wonky.. we tried pulling out the dash too see if we could easily replace the gauge its self.... after having decided it was entirely too much work.. we replaced the Dashboard... tucked boat away for another sunnny day... Today we pull it out.. the Transom up and down buttons work.. the fish finder works.. but anything that has 2 do with the dash wont work... Horn, Blower, Gauges, Pump.. nothing works..

I went threw and checked all of the Fuses.. all work fine.. Seems like after we took the dash out, and put it back in... something went wrong, when we took the dash out.. we never disconnected or connected anything.. for the life of me i cannot figure out why nothing in my dash is working... even the Key start ignition wont work... any help is much appritiated thanx all:(

Re: MCM 140 Seaswirl 1978 Electronics Issue

Well ive been tracing wires out... and the only thing i can come up with is that the main Red Wire is/went bad somehow over the weekend... seems the dash isnt getting any juice,

it cant be the battery cuz the fish finder and transom turn on , and go up n down..

So i guess my only option now is trace out the main Red Wire 2 the battery and replace it...:(

Do you have a 40A breaker in the bilge area that feeds your helm panel? You may want to check there...

Thanx bob, will look into that... i ended up pulling out the entire dash, made sure everything was nice and snug.. there are no lose connections, WD40'd the main wire harnesses underneath the dash..

Im most likely going down today after the town has its parade and look into a new breaker.. Seems when i push on the Red Reset button of the breaker nothing happens, not even a clicking sound.. so hopefully thats my issue...

See a few years back we took her out on the ocean, and my uncle had taken the live well out before we departed.. about 3 miles out, i noticed half the engine bay was under water...(he neglected 2 plug the live well hole...) ive replaced everything i possibly could. and am just hoping that its not Salt Water Related... seems 2 be what has been causing most of my issues was that day on the pacific =(..

but i again thank you kindly for your input..anything at this point is helpfull =)

Captain,
Are you comfortable with a multimeter? If so, check for voltage on the output side of the breaker, the one that that has the wire that feeds the helm. If you have voltage there, then check the back sides of your switches (the middle terminals) and see if you have voltage there...but I doubt it.

You probably ought to replace that push button with one like this...

You can get them at West Marine if you want one in a hurry, but you can get them online a lot cheaper...
