I am new to boating. I just got my first boat. Its a 1993 bayliner with a 70 force. I want some input on which oil is best or is it all about the same. Is 50/1 the correct ratio. Thanks

Re: which oil is best

Alot of guys here use the Wal Mart brand some only use the high dollar factory oil, I have used Speedway branded oil for years with no problems.

The important thing is to be sure it is TCW-3 rated, that is specific to outboards and don't run weedwhacker oil, they run at a much higher temp and the oil is different.

So, don't get stuff that is a buck on clearance but you don't need to spend $12 a quart either.

A 93 should be 50:1 but I am not a Force guy so wait for a qualified answer on that.

Any TCW-3 rated 2 stroke oil. 50 to 1 is the mix ratio.

Full synthetic TC-W3 oil will burn cleaner and with less smoke and carbon buildup than a petro-oil, but cost a lot more.

Brand name means nothing except how much advertising and marketing you are paying for.

I use Wal mart's SuperTech brand.
