Power trim switch

I recently have noticed that while running up the lake and using the power trim swith to level the boat off, If I hold the trim swith in to long its bringing my prop all the way out of the water. I have never noticed this before. If im going in to trailer the boat and I trim the moter up going into shallow water, the trim has never let my prop come all the way out of the water. Is there something wrong? I noticed this only after I was bringing the boat out from the bank and the motor bumped something, probably a rock, causing the engine to die. It started doing this after this happened. What could be the problem?

Is the switch "sticking" that it doesn't stop when you release the switch button?

We need more info on what you have I/O, outboard etc.You should put this in the appropriate section this is props. You'll get more and better help.
To the best of my limited knowledge there is an indicator telling the trim angle but nothing to stop trimming.

Re: Power trim switch

If it's a Mercruiser it has a sensor on each side of the outdrive. They're round. One is the sensor for your trim gauge, starboard side. The other is a trim limit switch that limits how high you can tilt before having to use the trailer button. I don't know if it's normally open or closed but you might have a short or open circuit. From one of my service manuals, it looks normally closed. You might have a broken wire.
