Good Morning All

I have a small problem I have a 2002 25hp Johnston Sea horse The issue is when I troll at low speeds the red light on my dash comes on and says the motor is over heating Water is still pumping and coming out the hose at the rear of the motor. I have replaced the impeller it still looked new I have the right gas mixture ( 50:1) Im running the right plugs L77JC4 The gap is set at 30 The problem is I have to push the button in on the throtle control and rev the motor up to get the light to go out . If I just try and drive away The govenor kicks in and the motor wont rev up till the light goes out and the motor cools down The water coming out of the hose at the rear of the motor does seems fairly hot to the touch What could the trouble Be ????

Thanks for your time

Re: over heating issue

Welcome!

You may have blockage or a bad thermostat. Or possibly a grommet is pinched on the water tube during impeller replacement. Do not run the motor until you get it figured out.

Re: over heating issue

The tell-tale lets you know that the waterpump is functioning but tells you nothing about the flow of water through the cooling passages of the engine. Check your thermostat.
