Motor wont run high rpms in forward

My motor will run normal with muffs on in forward, neutral, and reverse.
However in the water when it is put in forward, it will just plow water and wont get on top. I have already took out and cleaned the carbs and jets.
I have an older model 40 miraner. This problem just started today and has been running fine up until today. The boat was sat up all winter but it did run fine the first two times out this spring.

Please post serial number and year model. Check compression on each cylinder and post these numbers. You might try turning idle screw(s) CCW 1/4 turn to enrich the fuel to the engine. With serial #'s experts here can better help you.

Check your prop bushing and make sure it isn't bad. Also check for anything wrapped around it, like fishing line.
