I went out this evening after looking at the sticky on the subject.
on the left transom motor mount, i saw this:
85 with some dots around it and below that
340-0875-01

I didnt have time to pop the case and look for a SN plate inside, but here's my issue

1. Motor bogs down when warm at about 2500, when I throttle into it cold it goes right through the numbers, when warm it bogs down, if I ride it right before the bog down and let it run for a minute or two, it will then rev up and I can get it to run at WOT. I can do this repeatedly. nothing seems to change.

2. my boat seems to drag alot, I can get it to plane off, but it seems to have alot of drag, when WOT and plane-d off I get water shooting in from the center of the motor mount into the back of the boat. when I back off of the throttle the water stops coming in. It the stern feels like it sits way low in the water. -- Is my motor mounted too far down?

FYI in case it helps the boat is an Auqasport 196 Osprey Center Console, about 2700 lbs (I think)

Re: Merc 115

I see once more I have asked a question that could stump the mighty Stephen Hawking.

I guess I should have been more specific, or I should have asked where to buy a new boat to solve my problems, this site seems to be pretty well linked to sales....:D

If I sound frustrated I would say yes. I had asked a question before and was told to specify my post, in the allotted section. I think I did this correctly, but I am sure someone with a high ranking title under thier name will let me know I have not asked my question properly again.;)

Have fun with my post, well at least reading it and not answering anything as the last 27 people had done. :p

Re: Merc 115

Well, I am no pro but at least it is a reply.

The water over the transom sounds like the motor is sitting too low in the water. I would look into raising it and testing on the water.

Not too sure on the warm WOT issue. Hopefully someone else will jump in on that one. If not, I would look at the fuel filters and make sure they aren't all nasty. I am not certain these would be the problem since you can run through the revs when cold.

Good luck!

Re: Merc 115

Thanks guy, I did change out the fuel filter adn it wasnt nasty when I did it. the motor problem is a good call is that seems what i was thinking anda a few other people think at the local marina as well.

I am going to try to raise it up a notch and run it, if it still does it I will try another, but seems like an arduous task...

thanks again
