Re: advice on boat buying

As far as eficiencey goes 2 115,s at wot will deffinitley suck more fuel than 1 230. However 1 115 at wot wont be as bad as the 230 at 3/4 throttle and when your 60 miles out its always good to know you have two engines. As stated before there is always a trade off of some sort but my opinion is go with twin engines if you want to go out that far.just dont forget twice the engines means twice the maintenence. Good luck.
I never seen a 230 hp outboard

thanks guys! everytime i think ive decided i learn something new! lol! i prolly will go with twins for the reliability standpoint. and as for the 230, i was just throwing a number out there. ive never heard of one neither.

how about these shamrocks? they seem affordable. looks like alot of them have 350s inboards in them. are they efficient? or good boats? i would think they were alot easier to work on.

I know a couple of guys that run Shamrock diesels. Wouldn't want one a gas motor

A good older sea ray is an excellent choice 82-97 seen em for sale 4- 10 k choices of single 350 chevy @ 260 hp and twin engines as well they are very well made and comfprtable as for fuel milage mine is a 24 ft express cruiser gets 3.2 miles per gallon and its an 1984 w/ single 350 a small kicker to attach to the swim step is a good idea but for strictly fishing the have a cuddy fisherman model or amberjack always listen to the outdrives in gear and perform a compression check at the very least, a test run helps to determine sea worthyness as well (no leaks) see ya
