Ok i have a 96 wellcraft with a 4.3 mercruser and alpha one gen II outdrive. just got it last year and everything ran good. towards the end of the season i noticed when i would make sharp turns there seemed to be a bit of a knocking noise but nothing too bad. I just took it out for the first time this year last weekend. when I started with the hose it at my house everything sounded good. when i got to the river and started it I noticed a ruffness. I cant exactly explain it. kinda sounded like a bad bearing or gears with now oil but all the fluids were good. it made the noise in netural and in drive seemed to be more pronounced at low speeds but i think thats because the noise was getting drowned out at higher throtle. Im pretty confident its not coming from the motor. anyone got any ideas or advice?
oh, also the steering seemed to be the slightest bit stiff. when i turned the wheel its not perfectly smooth, it kinda pulses a very little bit from stiff to easy, stiff to easy. its not enough to make it hard to steer at all so i dont know if its supposed to be like this or not.
other than the noise though everything ran good
