Please help.

The unit is brand new, well benn in storage for 3 years. It has the remote touch pad. When I hit any of the keys it seems to work sort of fine. The problem is more noticable when I try to hit left or right buttons. The motor seems to stick or it moves a wee bit an stops then goes. really jumpy. If I hold the left or right button down and place unit close to receiver end it moves fine.
My 1st thought batteries, but not sure if it could be something else.
thanks

I would change the batteries then retry. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight too.

I agree. I changed out the batteries on one of my keyfobs this spring because of that. Also, remove all power from trolling motor to do a reset. Also, if yours is the earlier design that has the small antenna, fold it out for it is not behind the plate.
