this is what i would eventually like to do to it... (over the winter)

it has a HUGE splashwell so i would like to section it up to make a smaller one... then possibly add a hatch to the deck...

any suggestions on going about it to reduce stress cracking??? (joints & backing)... what about making a hatch??? i have some ideas but im always open to new & better ones...

<edit> yea,,, i never got around to this... i spent most of the winter fiddling with kawasaki invader snowmobiles,,, the poor boat wound up being a storage bench...

Hatch? Front deck? For fuel access? Extra 12 passenger room :D ?

If you want to shorten the splashwell do your calculations carefully so when the motor is at full tilt ....it does not hit anything.

I would fiberglass in some strips to strengthen the deck where the cracking can occur.

I've been trying to find a little boat like this from CL too. Great work can't wait to see it running!

Wouldn't a hatch create new areas of weakness? I like the integrity of the entire original.

i've won the bet... the maiden voyage was a success!!!

there were 20-30 mph winds and the lake was awfully rough,,, but we decided to go for it anyways...

it needs some support in the bow... she took a little beating with the waves & cracked the deck a little...

i think my nephew said it best with,,, "you stay drier on a jet ski" lol

she flys though... :D and its fun as all hell...

i'll try to get some video when its not so rough so the camera wont get soaked...

<edit> found a few pictures of the maiden voyage my brother had taken... there was NO seat at the time,,, we just sat on the floor & held on...

ok,,, maybe im not liking the force motor too much... lol (i blew it up last weekend)

in the few days prior to it blowing,,, it would make a weird kind of "clanging" noise every once in awhile & everything seemed to be fine when i checked it,,, so i kept running it... then while running it wide open,, it finally shelled...

i havent done any tear-down on it yet to see what happened,,, but when turning the flywheel by hand it feels like a bad crank/ or rod bearing... or maybe even a broken rod...

oh well,,, good thing used powerheads can be found for these motors pretty cheap ;)

Nice work...impressive that you made your deadline.

Many of us have missed self-imposed deadlines on our projects as Murphy tends to rear his ugly head at the wrong time:D

Good luck on a parts motor...those force OB's are available so you should find a cheap one hopefully!

Re: 11' mini speedboat project

I was going to suggest you put a bigger prop on the engine but I guess it's too late now. lol
