HELP.... Cannot find a tow bar for my 2009 suntracker 24 foot toon. Tried everywhere on the web. Dont want to pay 500 for a new one from tracker. Surely there is a knock off manufacturer somewhere. The swivel rope doesnt work because they are not long enough to go around the engine. plus the only place to attach is the hooks on the toons. thats probably not a good idea to tie too. any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pontoon tow bar

They make extra large tow bridles for pontoons and boats with a wide beam. The welded tabs (there should be a welded tab with a hole in it) on the pontoons are perfectly fine to attach the bridle to. They are very strong attachment points. Cleats and eye bolts found on most pontoons are NOT strong enough to pull skiers with. They are for light duty mooring use only.

This is what you need. Just snap the heavy duty hooks into the lift eyes on the back of your toons and you'll be fine. I used one just like it last week with great success on my 21' Suntracker. Also, FWIW I checked with the local dealer and they said it was fine to use the lift eyes.

If you don't have time to have one shipped I believe you can find them at Academy or a similar store. Welcome to iboats.

Just make sure the lift eyes aren't confused for the eye bolts pontoon manufacturers are fond of using in place of cleats these days.

Right. What we're referring to are the eyes welded onto the top of the back of the toons. Think you know that already, but better to be sure.

i will give it a try but.....i purchased a 12 foot airhead swivel last week. it wouldnt even come close to hooking up, The motor is so far out that im not sure even a 16 footer will work. i put some extenders on it and that worked but when the tube would move to the side the rope was riding on the motor housing.

Just remember the eyes on the back are pretty substantial BUT, they are welded to .080 aluminum which is not substantial at all and pulling on them sideways could cause them to crack and pull off.

I would get some heavy U bolts and put them through the back crossmember, this would be much stronger.

Re: Pontoon tow bar

What i really want is a tow bar that mounts over the motor, this keeps everything off the motor. I cant believe that nobody makes them. :(:(:(

Due to the non standardized mounting area and lack of demand you are probably going to have to cough up the coin and buy the one for your model from Tracker. $300 according to their website less installation. Same price as the universal jobs from Swivl-Eze.

Do you have enough room behind the rear bench to mount this?:

For the same price you can get the factory mount. I know which one I'd pick.
