correct carb kit

I am looking on iboats store for the correct carb rebuild kit for my boat, but they dont seem to make it very easy to tell which kit you need. I have downloaded the manuals, but they dont tell me what kit part no i need.

I have an 87 3.0L Alpha one drive

I believe that I have the Mercarb. If im researching correctly,because it only has one idle mixture screw and its a two barrel, that makes it a Mercarb right?

It runs but not below about 1300 RPM , any lower than that and it floods out(imo). adjusting the idle screw did nothing, so I took the flame arrestor off and gas is pouring in, Needs a rebuild, or at least a good cleaning, I think.

Can someone link me to the right kit?

My book shows for 140 (3.0) Mercarb (1 screw)
Carb #1389-8490A2 use Sierra # 18-7097
Carb #1389-815396A2 use Sierra # 18-7098

ok, So you're saying I need to get the actual number off the carb to tell which of those two I need right?

allright, Been looking at the kits. I don't have the boat in front of me right now. But From what I can gleam from the photos and descriptions, the difference between the two kits is the accelerator pumps, straight vs. 90 degree, right?

I guess Im gonna have to take it apart to find out which I have, or wait until I can get back to the boat to look for a number on the carb.

I think the big diff is the top gasket.

Ok, the red metal label on the carb says: 3.0 liter 1389-9562
