What make bass boat trailer is made from 1/4" steel?
can i use my 90amp mig welder with .o35 wire to weld it ...
I might be wrong but I believe your Mig is a gasless welder which just multiplies the reasons of why this machine is not suited to what you are asking.
Ayuh,.... Why is that,.?.?.? I use flux-core wire All the time....
I personly would not recomend that, unless you bevel it so that you can get 100 percent pentration. And don't weld it in the wind or you will get prosity.
Pretty simple. You turn the gas on and you have a gas unit. You turn the gas off and you have a none gas unit.I guess I missed the post where he said it was a gas setup or flux cored wireLets not assume anything, but it can be done some way. McGill- whatcha got???
Pre-heat , and weld er up.![]()
I am not pre- heating anything. It is just a suggestion to the OP on how to get it done with an undersized MIG welder so he can get his brackets ( of some sort) welded onto his trailer. Not really. Different wire, different polarity.Pretty simple. You turn the gas on and you have a gas unit. You turn the gas off and you have a none gas unit.![]()
Pre-heat? What the heck are you pre-heating on a boat trailer?![]()
Finally, someone with a bit of sense. The man has a fender welder,Flux Core or Gas! Ive been around welding all my life, Don't tell him something that might get him or his family,or someone else hurt! It just doesn't have enough heat to pentatrate 1/4'' steel like it should. No less the prodisity you get with Mig and wind problems.I would go no less than 120 amps and i also would use a Stick machine with 3/32'' 7018 welding rods.and layer your stringers. 18 yrs as pipeline welder / 12yrs Stainless steel welder in Pharmacital Manufacturing.( TIG )
