Hi, all

I have 1964 evinrude 28hp 2cylander, model# 28402m. The prop hit the rock
It is shaking when running it, the prop damaged some.

What would be damaged normally? It go in gear ok. I am thinking about buying a new prop. What would be the pitch size for it? Is I boats selling that?

Any advice and imfo will be greatly appreciated.

How hard did you hit it? How much prop damage are we talking?

Could be a bent prop shaft.

Yeah, the shaft might be toast.
Take the prop off and see if the shaft runs true.
As far as the prop, look for numbers stamped on the hub. That'll give you the specs.
It might be cheaper to have yours rebuilt.

Took off the prop, theshaft is still tight turns smoothly. I think just a prop needs rebuildor new.

any other inspection that I need to do before I run it again?
Is it ok to run it in barrel and see?

Thank you.

Did you check around the shaft for any oil? There are seals there that could be damaged... If You dont see any oil, Id go ahead get the prop rebuilt and Just go ahead and test it in the tank, make sure you dont have any crazy vibrations.

the more you run it, the better chance you have to damage the seals.

There is no sign of leaking oil around theprop shaft, but just turned on motor in the tank, it is shaking without prop on and tent to die at idle setting speed that I had before.

Does that mean i have to take a gearcase apart? while I am in there what do I need to replace? Thank you all for info.
