So I have an issue that really has me miffed. I have a 50hp evinrude two cylinder I did a compression check on the motor and I have 120 psi in both cylinders. I have good spark on both, Cleaned the carbs, replaced the main fuel line. i take the boat out and she fires up great I had to adjust the carb a little bit but all in all she is running smooth. I take it out and down the channel. the channel is about 3/4 of a mile long of no wake I make it all the way through there no problems. I get to the lake I put the hammer down and she purrs like a kitten. I run about a mile to our favorite redneck yacht club site and hang out for several hours. when i went to leave she fired right up and as i gave her throttle I could get nothing out of her i had the hammer all the way down and it would go about 5 miles an hour and it sounds like it is missing a cylinder periodically. I just don't know what to look for anymore on this motor... good compression, spark, fuel it is all there I am at a loss.

could have some dirt or something that lodged itself in the jets in the carb...

That's why it was suggested you read that link....;)

Is the motor new to you?
If not how has it run in the past? Any late season problems last year?
Were you checking compression for a specific reason....or just because...?

It is tough enough to make suggestions from a distance, it helps if you can paint as accurate a picture as possible of where you are, and how you got there. :)

Re: 50 hp Evinrude

the motor I have owned for several years however it has sat in my garage for about a year with out use. Last spring I used the boat early in the season but sold the boat with out the motor. i "winterized" it for storage and it has been sitting since about last may or june. I did a carb clean and when i had this problem last weekend i did a compression check just to make sure that wasn't my problem. For the last several years this has been a great motor for me and has always performed well. i don't understand how when i left the dock everything was running great and then after sitting for a couple of hours I have no power what so ever. it idles fine but wide open I get about 5 miles an hour out of her.

Could be your fuel line flaked off a bit of rubber into the carb. They all work perfect until they don't work. That's the internal combustion engine. Frustrating. I think I would look at the carbs. again. Best of luck.
