I was just wondering if it is recommended to unscrew the needle's on the 3 jets all the way out,and carb clean and see if theres junk mabe in the needle?

Mabe blow them clean,or shoot some carb cleaner through them.
I think mine are set at 1 turn out,so by screwing them all the way back in,and backing them out 1 turn, should not be a problem.

Thanks,
Scotty

There's no problem in doing what you describe, but to really insure you're getting any crud out, you should dis-assemble the carbs. They're actually pretty simple, and gaskets, needle valve are inexpensive.

Thanks alot.

Yes,that will be my next step for sure.
I just noticed some of the motor cover insulation has come off the top,and seems a little dirty inside the motor,so just wanted to make sure and clean out that first.

If it doesn't run any better then I guess its on to spending money and doing the carbs.
Thanks for the advise........

What's the problem that you think there might be some relief in cleaning your carbs?
Before anyone does anything they should do a compression/spark test.
Look in the carbs and see if any insulation is stuck in the carbs.J

Yes theres insulation.Small stuff in there.
The guy who had it before did not do much maintenance.

Runs fine until wot.
Compression test will be next if it doesnt help.

Well if it ever quits raining i will try it on the lake..lol
Ya,seems like they are out 1 turn only.I guess I will have to experiment a little out on the lake, and open them up an extra 1/4 turn and see if that makes a difference.

Takes off WOT for 3-5 seconds, then boggs down.
Mabe starving a little?

Try squeezing the primer bulb when you go WOT. If it makes any difference, I would suspect a bad fuel pump diaphragm.

Re: Taking out the jets to clean 85 force

My serial number on the 85 force is 6396
Model:856x5L
So thats a 85 right?

I took out the needles, and they all look good and sharp.
For taking the carb bowl's out,you just take the nut off the bottom of the bowl right?
Then I can check out the reeds, and see if all is well inside right?

I did go 1 1/4 turns out, butit's not back in the lake till tomorrow morning.
So I will try that and see if it helps at WOT........
