Re: oil to fuel ratio?

50:1 is one pint (16oz) of oil per six gallons of gas. (Alright, you matematicians, I know that actually figures out to 48:1) Most outboards come with a 6 gallon tank, and oil comes in one pint cans. Amazing how that works out.

If you are only going to put in 5 gallons, just go ahead and dump in the whole pint of oil. The extra won't hurt anything.

By the gallon, 50:1 is 3 oz per gallon...as close as is practical to measure it.

Yes it is 50:1

Near enough 1 pint in 6 gallons

More precisely 2.56 fluid ounces of oil per US gallon

3.2 fluid ounces per UK (Imperial) Gallon

20ml per litre in most of the world.

2% if if you are a mathematician

Re: oil to fuel ratio?

well thank ya'll very much. ya'll have answered my question to the T, and even for other countries! so im assuming if you put too much oil you will just smoke a lot more than normal. if you dont put enough oil, then you run a chance of putting a hole in the piston? by the way, as ya'll can probabley tell, yes i am a first time boat owner and know absolutely nothing about boats.
