Which battery manufacturer is about the best one going now? I am replacing 2 Interstates (series 24 / 800 cca-1000 mca) that came with the boat. They are well past their usable life spans.

Re: battery choice

From what I understand there are really on like 2 major battery manufacturers and Johnson Controls makes the vast majority. I've had great luck with DieHards which are apparently JCI batteries.

Re: battery choice

My neighbor does roadside service for AAA, and he tells me that he sees very few Interstate batteries that are dead before their 'time'. I would have no problem suggesting them to a friend....

Happy boating!

Re: battery choice

I just buy a marine battery at autozone and no problems so far. Battery maintenance probably more important than the brand, keep it charged up, plenty of water, etc.

Well, this is a total opinion question. Like this vs. that. But I will add my $.02 to the pot. I only use Interstate batteries in everything right down to my garden tractor and zero turn mower.

I use Interstate and Continental Which ever I can get the best deal on at the time. Currently just put 2 new Conti's in my boat. a starter and a deep cycle. Took the 3 year old interstate out. Is acting as a reserve on a battery maintainer in the Garage. Tahoe has an interstate, Dodge and Buick have a Conti. No problems with either.

Re: battery choice

Thanx for all the info on the batteries. Went and got the Interstate 1000 MCA and kept the Duralast 685 MCA for accessories, pumps etc. Sound okay?
