What type of boat is best for me?

I am interested in a boat. I want to use the boat on lakes with being able to accommodate multiple people, with an i/o motor, being able to use the boat for fishing, cruising, and skiiing. What kind of boat manufacturer and or model do you guys reccomend?

What is your budget? Cobalt is nice but absolutely more money then a Bayliner.

Volvo Penta or Mercruiser outdrive
Depending on where you boat ..... a bow rider is nice.

Most of the major manufacturers offer what is called a "Fish & Ski" which provides the capabilities you are after. However, just like so many other things that combine functions, they may not provide the best of all features. You can fish from a F&S, you can cruise or you can ski. The point is it is not optimized for any of the three. You need to go to a boat show or visit some local dealers and educate yourself on what's out there. And don't forget to think about what you have as a tow vehicle if you need to trailer this boat. If you have a Kia Rio you are pretty much limited to a row boat if you get my drift.

I have a 1998 Glastron GS 205 FS. We have had terrible luck fishing so I wanted a boat that would pull tubes or knee boards if we can't find fish (I heard they live in water, but I can't prove it). This is a 20' fiberglass with a Chevy 305 Volvo Penta, plenty powerful. We mainly use it for fun on the water, but there is plenty of room to store fish poles out of the way, deflated tubes, a knee board, ski ropes, skis, life jackets, anchor, and I have a trolling motor on the bow. I'm pretty satisfied how the fish and ski package works. And it's easily towed with a 1998 F150 4.6L. Hope this helps.
