Quicksilver throttle neutral button froze

I have a 1984 Chris Craft Scorpion 168 with a 140 mercruiser - and it has been running great after some help from the fine folks on this forum. Over time the throttle only or neutral button has become very difficult to depress on the Quicksilver controller. As someone in another post described - if I hold my mouth just right and giggle it a little the button might depress. I'm ready to hit it with a hammer - that's what firefighters do. There is no model number anywhere on the unit. Near as I can find out - a part number that's associated with a picture on google is 827270?? I've attached my own picture of my unit. I took it apart enough not to get into too much trouble. I was hoping to shoot some grease and be on my way - no such luck. Any suggestions??

Re: Quicksilver throttle neutral button froze

I used AERO KROIL oil on mine, it's an older one but had gotten hard to push in. A couple small squirts loosened it right up. You can get Kroil oil at most hardware stores, exspensive but has come in real handy on corroded items. I used it to free a stuck motor in 5 minutes. good luck!

Thanks guys - it sounds like I'll be taking it apart this evening!
