no forward drive 59 Johnson

After replacing the impeller on my fat fifty, I have no forward.
Have neutral and reverse, shift rods are still connected and it goes into
gear-no prop spin except in neutral, motor runs fine.

Any ideas what I may have messed up? It shifted fine a few weeks ago.

any chance you spun the sfift shaft when dropping the LU to do the water pump? it doesnt take much..

you could drop the lower unit again and move the shift shaft up and down to see if you messed with the travel on it... i'm only saying that becasue when i did mine i noticed the shift shaft was easy to turn in or out..

you might check the manual to see about shift shaft measurements and see where you are at..if you can lock the prop into forward and reverse manually with lu down then i would say its a travel issue..

Thanks for the reply,

I have an old intertec manual which covers several brands and does not
have specs.on shift rod length, though it is not bad on other areas.
It does show a detent spring adjustment under the cowl on cable side,
I think I'll check that tomorrow before I resort to dropping LU again.
