shift rod evinrude

I have a 1990 Evinrude V6 150 hp, engine model is VE150SLESB, I want to know what the height measurement should be on the shift rod i have the lower unit down and i messed with it on accident. how should i measure and where from point A to point B ? desperate please help, thanks.....Bob

I'm sure someone here will have the answer for you soon... in the mean time do yourself a huge favor and get the oem manual for it.. I actually found a repair manual at my local library and took it out for a couple of weeks to do a bunch of work on mine.. its the best thing you can do for yourself and the motor.

Working from my notes - I don't have the service manual.

The measurement is from the mating surface of the gearcase to the center of the hole at the top of the shift rod with the gearcase in neutral.

Long shaft 22-1/16? +/- 1/32?
Extra long shaft 27-1/16? +/- 1/32?
