An outboard tech told me that there was a service bulliten for the 60's and early 70's 18-20 and 25HP outboards for a 3 eared clutch dog kit-(foreward, reverse,pinion and 3 ear clutch dog) has anybody got the part nos for this?

Unless they made a 3-ear forward and reverse gear too.

The tech may have been thinking of OMC service bulletin 2129 dated Feb 1985. There was a 3 lug dog and gear set but they were for the 1974 to 1984 9.9/15 hp designed for severe service. Can't remember any other ones at this time.

After digging further as it kept bugging me there was another bulletin 2059 dated Nov 1982. I would recommend going to a good OLD Evinrude dlr and have him show you this bulletin. The part # of the kit would be 390974. This is for 1960 to1978 15 commercial.18,20,25 hp models. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Boobie, this is what I was looking for. He told me it's a replacement for the 2 ear dog. Now, all I gotta do is find one.

You wouldn't happen to have an indivual parts list for the kit, would you?

Sorry I don't, but I will have to ponder on this. Seems to me over the last 25 yrs I've seen a parts break down on this kit. Main reason for the break down was to be be able to order parts for it after it was installed.

I found the parts break down but after talking to a guy at BRP today he told me the kit was going to be obsolete. Said they may have one kit left for $675.00. The mtr is probably not worth that. Save your money and stick with the 2 lug. They were great kits when the working man could still afford them and I know, I've put quite a few in. Hope this helps. One question I would have, is your shift linkage good and tight all the way down to the gear case and is your shift handle adjusted properly on the strb side of the power head?
