hi folks i have a what is supposed to be a 70hp johnson hanging on my 95 crestliner 1650 pro am sc, it has a remote oil tank in the boat tilt and trim, and is remote controlled at the console.
i need the year, model number, and serial number of the engine to get my insurance to cover the rig for liability and cash value. not to mention getting parts and such in the future
problem is i cant find a tag on this motor anywhere. a previous owner decided to paint the hood of the motor black overtop the decals and all so any clues that may have been there are gone.
i read a bit here and found the silver freeze plug in the head with G 3873300 stamped on it. i realize this assumes the power head has never been rebuilt/replaced
on the block i found a date code of 3/94 and a casting number of 336343 d3
can anyone confirm the hp and year of this thing? or tell me where i should be finding an id tag of some kind?
also what should be on here for a prop? its currently a 13 3/8 x 17 #389948 stamped on it, but its kinda rough so im thinking of a new or repair and want to weigh my options
i had some problems last time out with it dying at cruise speed once and then had some idle issues afterwards. prior to that it seemed to run ok. after getting it back home i pulled plugs and they are toast, checked compression and found 125-135 on all cylinders
i plan to replace the plugs fuel filter, and drain the fuel tank due to unknown age and origin.. sounded like the rig had sat a while before i got it 2 weeks ago through a winter at least being im in iowa
sorry for the poor punctuation on this book just need to be pointed the right way here
