Bellows Job - Shift Cable - Alpha One

Getting ready to do a bellows job on a Mercruiser Alpha One - and from what I've learned so far it looks like the shift cable is sacrificed to do the bellows on the shift cable. Is that correct?

instead of cutting the cable off, ya can feed it back out the shift cable bellows w/o sacrificing the cable. that said. if the cable ain't been done in a while. while doing the bellows is a perfect time to R&R the cable too.

I always replace cable when doing bellows job, as half the time you can't get 'em apart without damage.
