What wires are "these"?
The electric choke when fitted is operated by a solenoid coil clamped to the back of the air silencer.

One of "these wires" will presuambly go to that, the other I guess to a source of power.

The two choke solenoid wires go:

Black to engine ground.

Purple with white stripe to engine harness to C on the ignition switch.

There is no yellow wire on the choke solenoid.

Are you looking at a voltage regulator (click the thumbnail)? That has yellow black and purple wires.

It's a big black plastic boxy thing that blocks the front the carburetors.

It varies by model, but the choke solenoid isn't always attached to the airbox, more likely, in a bracket fastened to the intake manifold -- it'll have a plunger with a spring on the end, and you attach the other end of the spring to the choke plate linkage on the carburetor.

If the device you're referring to is a metal cylindrical object, it's a rectifier. If it's a black plastic box, it's a rectifier/regulator. Not all models have voltage regulators.

Choke solenoid is on the back of the airbox, it's got no regulator on that motor, just the 3 wire round rectifier accord to BRP site.

I think you are referring to the plug that comes off the control box, that feeds the tach and buzzer, ignore that. The wire for the choke comes off the ignition switch, the wire is purple/white, if there is no purple and white wiring coming from the C terminal of the switch your going to have to run one to the choke solenoid.

As I said before, you are looking at the voltage regulator. Part # 0173640. Not the rectifier, but the regulator. It's a separate and optional part on the 1979 motors.

The tachometer wires coming out of the remote control would be purple, back, and gray.
