I messed up and didnt get my boat winterized last year and cracked the block. i got a 4.3 block to replace it but, The motor in my boat has the balance shaft, and the block i got does not.... can i still use my rotating assembly out of my boat to put in the new block or will not having a balancing shaft hurt anything??

Re: non balance shaft 4.3

Bad move. using pistons from one engine in another will not last. Pistons are "fit" to a block during manufacture. The two may not be anywhere near close to proper fit. For all you know, one engine may be overbored having been rebuilt previously. Obviously a .030 overbore would make those pistons tough to hammer into a standard bore block. In fact some brand new engines have either high or low limit pistons, bearings, etc in them for proper fit.

there is a writeup somewhere on the net about 25,000 words listing all the chronological changes to the 4.3.
now I cannot find it
that engine was a work in progress by GM throughout its whole run for sure... swapping parts between generations is very complex.

Have your machinist start measureing - then you'll know what you have.

I've done all the measuring I know everything will physically fit, I guess my question is will a non balance shaft 4.3 vibrate enough to hurt my boat?

Short answer is NO. To start with the crankshafts are totally different. Pretty much nothing can be swapped between a 4.3 with plastic timing chain cover to a 4.3 with a steel one...

Re: non balance shaft 4.3

start looking for 93 and down. Just make sure it as the steel timing chain cover and your all set...

Re: non balance shaft 4.3

87-91 non balance shafted - still bolt right in
92-95 balance shafted - same as you have now
96+ balance shafted, but adds vortec heads = more power but requires new intake manifold
