Hi guys,
I'm new on here, but could use some help. I am trying to hookup a steering cable to my 15hp gamefisher. I am going to make custom brackets and rod, but I just need to get the cable mounted securely at the rear. I DO NOT have a tube on the outboard to slide the cable through, so I assume I need the most universal set-up. The cable and console are out of a CHALLENGER bass boat. The cable is not threaded inside the nut either??? Here are pics.

Help would be great, thanks!
Rob

That's it........... 4 bolts thru the transom real close to the motor level with motor and put the cable on the other side clamp and connect your drag link.

So if I am understanding you correctly, this is all that i need to attach to the cable? Just this and then attach my tie rod to the end of the cable and the motor. I thought I would need Two holding pieces, this bracket and something else???? As you can see I'm new to this.

If I understand correctly, because I have the same dilemma currently, this bracket is all you need at the rear, and a way to connect the piece that moves left and right to the front of the engine. The other end of things is tied to the steering box, and the wheel then spins the cable inside the two locked down sides.

That bracket is designed to work with a tube that the end of the cable rides in. It is a replacement for the through tube in the motor, and is threaded at one end to accept the big nut on the cable. The tube should be available where ever the bracket is sold.
