Finally got the boat in the water and it ran great. after 10 min at wot I go to shut It down and the buzzer goes off but I wiggle The key and it stops. Then later I have it going and at wot and when I back it down it buzzed again then back to wot and it goes away. It has water coming out of exhaust. New Impellar 1973 rude 50hp. If you wiggle the key and it goes away you may have an issue with the switch. How are the head temperatures ???

So overheating is most likely out of the equation. That is unless you have a blockage somewhere.
You may have a switch issue.
Continuous buzz ???

It never happened in the tank...and it does put out Luke warm water below the cowling. Why would it stop when I go to WOT

I'll add 2 cents that may be worth nothing but on my previous Johnson (if its has an oil reservoir that feeds/mixes) when I hit WOT, the level was just low enough in the tank that it would shift back and off went the warning buzzer, low oil. Soon as I slowed down... it was fine....if I started to go again, same old buzzer (it was the first boat I had with this as the one before was a '62 Merc)

Anyway, not sounding like it, but a possibility.

1973 did not have VRO or OMS system. Premix only.

The buzzer has power going to it, grounding makes it sound, if it isn't overheating - something's gotta be making it go off, taking it apart and testing everything with a test light would surely resolve the issue.

How long should I be able to hold my hand on the block. and also with the water coming out of the exhaust ports below the cowling does that mean the thermostat is open

got it figured out. The key switch was rotating in the control. I tightend the nut and the buzz went away. Thanks for all your help and the confidence to give it a shot. too bad the fish didn't appreciate my work . I only landed one keeper.
