Just bought a 1978 sea nymph with a mercury 200 20 hp motor, new to outboards, so was wondering the start up procedure for one that has not been run since 01'. Also would like to know the oil/gas mix ratio

Do you know what year the motor is? Take a look at this link. It has a good bit of info for "waking a sleeping motor"

I think its a 50:1 mixture. I could be wrong though.

Thanks for the info, the motor I was assuming it was the same age as the boat, how would you know for sure?

Look for a serial number. I believe there is a plate located between the clamps that you clamp on to the transom. Otherwise there is one on the engine block I think. I don't know where though. If I remember right mine was on the port side of the block. I think it will be a seven digit number. Or take a photo and post it here and someone can narrow it down for you.

Looks like yours is a 1978. So it is the same year as your boat. I'd read through that thread I posted. That will give you a good idea of what to do.

I can say from experience just go ahead and replace your impeller and check over the water pump. I didn't replace mine after it sat for ten years, it looked ok, and was for a few outings...then went out while out on the lake and I now have a second motor sitting in my garage ready to be torn apart for parts.
