Has anyone figured out a good way to arrange fuel tanks for a main motor that uses straight gas and a kicker that uses a fuel/oil mixture?

My main motor is a direct injection 2-stroke so the main gas tank is straight gas. The kicker is an 8hp 2-stroke that uses mixed fuel/oil. This means I have to carry a separate portable gas tank for the kicker which gets in the way. I would like to add a small auxiliary "permanent" gas tank below deck for the kicker but the smallest I can find is an 11 gallon which is twice what I need and takes up too much room.

I would appreciate any ideas...

Re: Kicker Motor Fuel Supply

I have 2 small aft jumpseats with bases that were just slightly too small to hold a 6 gal. metal tank. I removed the seatbacks and cushions and built new bases that would fit the tank. I took the vinyl off the old bases and reused it to cover the new ones. The top cusions are removable, so there is full access to the primjer bulb and cap. A household furnace wall vent was modified, painted the same color as the upholstery and installed on the front to provide ventilation.

Re: Kicker Motor Fuel Supply

Thanks for some good ideas to get me thinking...

My problem is that the locker at the back of my boat where I would like to put the tank is open to the bilge. My motors are outboards but I do have a bilge pump, washdown pump & livewell pump in the bilge so I do not want to put an unvented "portable" tank in the locker where fumes could get down into the bilge.

But your idea of the furnace vent gives me some ideas. I wonder if it is possible to "vent" a portable tank?
