Is it possible to install an electric sender unit into a standard red 6 gal. above deck plastic gas tank?
I would rather have a gauge on my dash than the inaccurate float-gauge on the tank (which is out of sight behind rear pannel).

Re: Fuel Sender in Plastic tank possible?

It has been tried -- some successfully, some not, and both quite dangerous. The fuel sender flange has a rubber gasket under it. There are a number of machine screws (not sheet metal screws) that thread into hex nuts embedded in below deck tanks that are not possible to install on a portable tank. So the only way to secure the sender is with sheet metal screws and they simply will not make a tight enough seal. There are many small below deck tanks with the fuel sender fitting that can be installed above deck. Go that route and be safe in the process.

Thanks for the advise. I will go with the under-deck tank unit.

We install a sensor similar to a fuel sensors in 30 gallon plastic tanks using jack nuts. If you can't find jack nuts, thin nuts will work just as well. Both types of inserts can be installed using normal hand tools
