Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and pretty new to boats.I bought a '94 key west 19ft with a '94 johnson 88spl outoboard. The motor runs fine on the muffs and will rev up with no problems. Took it to the boat launch today and found that once i engage forward or reverse that it will only take a little throttle for a short time and then stall.I can put the motor in neutral and give it throttle and it runs and idles fine.I know the boat had been setting up for a while so before i ran it i siphoned the fuel out of the internal tank and drained the carb bowls before i even attempted to run it. My first thought was of carb jets being clogged but it runs great until i put it in gear and then it starts to die out.Any help would be appreciated.I am thinking that the load on the motor as it trys to push the boat has something to do with it. I am at a lost.
any help would be very welcomed.
thanks in advance.
