Hi,
I was out on the lake this last weekend and when I gave it some throttle the motor would rev but I would not go very fast. I tilted the the motor up and the prop was moving slowly when I gave it some gas the prop spun very fast so I put the motor back in the water and gave it some gas and nothing again. What happened to my motor?

Hello fellow 1970 115 owner. My guess, you will see quite a few indicate you have a spun hub on your prop.

do you still have the original push button remote control? Mine went out, so I replaced it with a toggle switch setup. Had a head gasket go out last week. Damn near cooked the engine for good. Thank goodness I had a temp. guage on it so I knew it was HOT.

Re: 1970 Evinrude 115 trouble

Hello, I too have an Evi 115083D that came with a boat that I am in the process of restoring, however I can't seem to find the key in the box of parts for the Select control box. Do any of you know if there is a key stamp on the control box anywhere? Going to be a bit difficult to test the motor for gears if I can't run it through the control box.

Thanks
Alan.

I don't know. If you buy a new ignition switch do they come with keys?
