With the economy being down, it appears thet the Home Despot and others do not stock much indoor-outdoor carpet. Anyone have a good source for indoor-outdoor carpet? I need an 8X8 piece.

I always get mine at Home Depot or Lowe's, but maybe some carpet remnant or seconds place would have a small piece for sale cheap. I use an 8'x8' on my boat deck also and I think it was $48 at Home Depot last time, maybe I'll shop around next time.

You need a marine grade carpet, not a Lowe's or HD cut piece. They will not hold up under the weather. The jute backing will degrade within the boating season.

Contact www.snapincarpet.com

You can get either template pieces, precut pieces, or measured sizes (i.e. 8' x 8').

The marine grade is better quality with a rubberized backing. You will be much happier in the long run.

The Lowes where I live sells "marine" carpet. I just bought some to re-carpet my bunks and the steps on my trailer. It's pretty good stuff. I used it 12 years ago when I did my bunk and steps last. They were still in good shape...I just wanted a color change and to check the condition of the bunk boards.

I redid my bunk boards this year with Marine Carpet from Lowes, it was 13oz, a little less that what I wanted, but the price was right. I have a 22ft Lowe Deck Boat and with the new lumber, carpet and SS Lag Screws I did all for $60.

Indoor/outdoor, bunk, and marine carpet, are three different things.

If you are looking for an 8x8' piece, I'd guess you are looking for carpet to use on the deck/sole of the boat.

So you want marine carpet.

If you want to know the difference, check some out and compare it to in-out carpet.

The final test, is to drag a treble hook thru it.

An 8x8 or 8x9' piece of real marine boat carpet is gonna cost you from $35 to $95.

look at Overtons or West marine on the internet. I did the carpet on my boat via Overtons. Price was reasonable and I got 20 OZ. Looks great.
